Adam
Williams was born on December 2, 1991 in Renselaer, Indiana. His dad
Keith and mother Sharon along with two older brothers, Brandon and James
are very supportive of his racing and you will find them at the race
track every night that Adam is racing.
Adam originally did some go-kart racing, mainly just for fun. In 2006
he started racing the family Barefoot Mini-Stock and while he didn't
win any races he finished 5th in the yearly points standing at Shadyhill.
In 2007 he continued racing in the Barefoot Division and finally won
his first race. While it was a heat race he had consistently good finishes
and he finished 4th in the points standing.
In 2008, Adam moved up to the Pure Street Division. He took off in a
very impressive way by winning the first race he was in, again it was
a heat race. This was the start of a very good year where he won three
features on his way to winning the Shadyhill Track Championship in his
rookie year in the division.
For the 2009 racing season he again drove the family Pure Street and
after numerous heat race wins and three feature wins he collected his
2nd consecutive Pure Street Track Championship at Shadyhill.
On June 27th, Adam accepted an invitation to become the driver of the
yellow & white #14 R & D I-MOD. This would be a big challenge
for Adam since the I-MOD is a much different race car than what he has
driven in his young racing career. He proved to be a quick learner and
he ended the year with five heat race wins along with two feature wins.
This racing would gain him an 11th place finish in the Shadyhill points
standing and a ninth place finish in the Kankakee points race. By winning
heats and a feature at both tracks proves that he had made great progress
in the I-MOD Division during his half season in the car.
When the points tabulation earned him an 8th place finish in the I-MOD
Assn. yearly points standing, at the banquet he received the recognition
for being the 2009 I-MOD 'Rookie of the Year'. A great accomplishment
by a young driver who just celebrated his 18th birthday back in December.
Adam names Tony Stewart as his favorite professional driver. He is a
senior at KV High School and is maintaining a near straight 'A' grade
average. He plans on continuing his education next fall, which will be
told about in an addition to this at that time. Adam works at McDonalds
in Demotte and is in a management training program for the hamburger
giant.
2010 proved to be an exciting chapter in Adam's life. He graduated from
KV High School and got enrolled at Purdue-North Central. His racing career
continued to progress in a very positive way. Driving the R & D Racing
I-MOD for his first full year on the team he made giant strides to becoming
one of the best drivers in the division.
Racing every Saturday night at Shadyhill earned him a 4th place finish
in the yearly points standings. He was able to win numerous heat races
and finally captured his first feature win of the year on the last night
of competition. This fact doesn't take away the thought that he was very
competitive every night but racing in a tough and competitive division
like the I-MODs, wins just don't come easy.
His racing at Kankakee turned out much more favorable. Winning numerous
heat races and four features during the year allowed him to become the
I-MOD Track Champion. This would be the third year in a row that Adam
had won a track championship.
The I-MODs were invited to make their first appearance at the Kokomo
Speedway which finalized the 2010 racing season. The weekend of racing
for numerous divisions was called the 'Kokomo Klash' and was held in
the middle of October. Adam had been on a hot streak and he continued
his dominance when he got to Kokomo. He won the first heat race, which
was of course the first I-MOD race held at the track. Later in the evening
he led all 25 laps of the feature which gave him a six feature win season.
With the six feature wins to go along with nine heat race wins this gave
Adam enough points to be the 2nd place finisher in the I-MOD Assn. points
standings. He was one of three drivers who had competed in all 26 race
nights the I-MODs raced. Winning the championship at Kankakee and the
Kokomo Klash proved to be two big jewels for his 2010 racing season.
At the I-MOD Assn. banquet, while receiving his trophy and jacket he
announced that he planned to return to the seat of the R & D Racing
I-MOD for 2011. This made car owners Rich & Deb very happy. During
the off season he also picked up a ride in the B & S Racecar Fabrication
house Modified owned by Bernie Schubert.
If you haven't met Adam yet, stop by and say hello to him! We will continue
this story after the 2011 race season has finished........
