Hannagan wins 360 portion of “Sprints gone Wild”;
Rest of features to be made up in coming weeks
Waynesfield, OH (July 24, 2010)
- It was “Sprints Gone Wild” at Waynesfield
Raceway Park on Saturday night July 31st. Thanks to Ray Marshall
at Buckeye
Machine Fabricators Incorporated, the Ohio Cycleworx 360 Sprint
Cars joined the racing program along with the Lee's Hydraulics
Non Wing Sprint Cars, Post Agri Service UMP Modifieds, and the
JR and Sons Service Center Compacts. It was also corporate night
for Tim Hogan's Carpet Outlet in Lima, Ohio. Ron Hammons and his
bunch were on hand under the hospitality tent having a great time,
and we were glad to have them!
Starting off the racing action were the Ohio Cycleworx 360 Sprint
Cars. The Monster Energy sponsored # 48 of Tommy Kerce would
lead the field to the green flag, but getting a great start from
inside row number 2 was “The Hurricane” Randy Hannagan,
aboard the Dennis Yoakum owned #22d. Hannagan flew to the front
of the field as caution waved after lap 1 for the Team Fenner,
Wertz Hardware #34 of “The Ohio Hammer” Luke Hall
for a flat right front tire. When racing resumed, Hannagan held
down the point over a charging “Mr. Excitement” Tim
Allison in the Ohio Cycleworx #11 and “The Bellefontaine
Bandit” JR Stewart, in the Ron Hammons owned #6s. Caution
would wave again on lap four for the #17 of Jared “Hurricane” Horstman,
who came to a stop in turn 4 with rear end problems. When the
green flag flew again, Tim Allison made a strong challenge on
Hanngan through the next lap, until the red flag flew for the
upside down car #6z of Zach Ames. Ames would walk away under
his own power, but his car was finished for the evening. This
time when the green flew again Hannagan was able to get a better
restart, and took off with the lead. JR Stewart was able to get
by Allison for second and made several attempts to get by Hannagan
in lapped traffic, but time ran out as Hannagan picked up the
feature win followed by Stewart, Allison, #28h Hud Horton, and
#6 Mike Dussel rounding out the top 5. Heat races were won by
#34 Luke Hall, #11 Tim Allison, and #6s JR Stewart. Special recognition
goes out to #34b Donald “Bounce” Ryder, making his
first ever appearance in a sprint car. Bounce is a lifelong friend
of Jack Hewitt and is the band director for the “Pride
of the Southland” marching band at the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Ryder had nothing but high praise for his competitors, the
Team Fenner crew and the staff at Waynesfield.
The JR and Sons Service Center Compacts were next on the racetrack
with the front row consisting of the #76E of Brandon Frazier
and the #1 of Mike Sawmiller leading the field to the green Piqua,
Ohio's Jeff Kimes in the Rush Creek Gardens sponsored #31 began
to pick cars off in a hurry, making his way to the 2nd spot before
the rains came after lap 3, putting a halt to racing action.
The compact feature will be completed next Saturday night July
31st with 3 laps complete. #1 Mike Sawmiller will be the leader,
with #31 Jeff Kimes in second, #76E Brandon Frazier will be third,
#17 Justin Durflinger fourth, and #11 Jordan Iiams in fifth.
The full field rundown is listed on our website http://www.waynesfieldracewaypark.com,

Saturday August 14th at the beginning of racing action. Heat
