Appreciation Award Presented at Swap Meet
Rensselaer, IN (March 3, 2012) - Rensselaer's
Larry Brooks (center) receiving a Rensselaer Raceway appreciation
award from former promoter Ted Knorr of Speedway, IN. Also there
for the presentation were five time winner of the annual "Brooks
Ford Hoosier Championship race, Morocco's Dick Potts and National
Stock car racing magazine writer Bob Markos (right). Visitors at
Saturday's Racers Trade Show and Swap Meet, at the Jasper County
Fairground, included former officials, announcer Ross Mackey from
Michigan, drivers who raced the fairground track over twenty years
ago, and many departed driver's family members.
Rensselaer's Larry Brooks presents the
Ford 100" Hoosier Dirt Track Championship trophy to Dick Potts
of Morocco. The 80 year old Brooks was a long time Rensselaer auto
dealer and sponsored the season ending stock car championship for
13 years ('73 to '85) at the Jasper County fairgrounds
- (Rensselaer Speedway 1953 -1987).
