Fireworks, Late Model Chase Highlight Speedrome Saturday
Night
Indianapolis, IN (June 29, 2010)
- America’s
134th birthday brings us a fantastic weekend of racing at the Home
of the World Figure 8®. 5 nights of motorsports entertainment
gets underway on Wednesday. During that stretch, 12 different
competition divisions will hit the famous fifth-mile to celebrate
this great day in
our countries history. On Saturday July 3rd, the Speedrome is
the place to be for Fireworks. The 64th Annual Casse Family Fireworks
program will
thrill a grandstand full of fans. The much talked about show
is unique to any facility in the nation. Advanced VIP reserved
seat tickets are
on sale now for just $15. These best seats in the house will
be $20 on the day of show. Stop by the track Pit Office or charge
by phone at (317)
353-8206 to get yours today.
The Speedrome signature effect of this Fireworks extravaganza is the
on-track items. While nearly all displays have a sky full of bursts, bangs,
and blasts (including ours), the Casse Family has included so many devices
to entertain the spectators from our track infield. It is like getting
two Fireworks shows in one! Those ground creations are brightly lit and
full of motion as well as being explosive. Classic past infield hits were
the Liberty Bell, Cars Crashing at the Crossover, and the American Flag.
There will also be enough ground-shaking explosions to set off a seismograph.
It will be one do not miss evening at the Speedrome.
In addition, the night’s agenda is full of racing including the
Scooter’s Auto Sales Stocks presented by Peters Auto Service, 1-800-Radiator & AC
Roadrunners, and Thirsty Turtle Tavern Hornets. There will also be an
exhibition from our friends at the Midwest Drift Union. We will now focus
on the Dad’s Truck & Auto Late Models. Saturday will be the
penultimate round of racing before the $10,000-to-win Chase for the Cup
championship begins. Ten spots for ten drivers are on the line to get
into the playoff pursuit for points and the honor of being track champion
in this ultra-fast division.
Two racers have currently moved out ahead of the pack. And they just
happen to be the two most recent Late Model champions. Six-time titleholder
Jack Dossey Jr has a slim 55 point margin over reigning king Mark Tunny
heading into Saturday’s Firecracker 50-lap Figure 8. Each has three
feature victories in the class during 2010. The pursuers group is lead
by Mark’s dad Bruce who happens to be a five-time champion. He has
a string of four-straight runner-up Figure 8 finishes. Casey White, Ben
Tunny, and last week’s winner Corey Turner are next in the standings.
The top six racers are fairly secure to receive a Chase for the Cup spot,
but have not yet mathematically locked-in.
The remaining four positions have nine drivers circling the wagons as
only two events offer opportunities. As it stands now, former Stock champion
Speedy Teepe, veteran Steve Frost, World Figure 8® Champion Doug Greig,
and recent High School graduate Austin Tunny have the spots. Lurking in
the all-in charge to enter the precious ten are “the outlaw” Jesse
Tunny, “bulldog” Bobby Whitaker, rookie leader Steve Frost
Jr, Late Model freshman Earl Bryant, and veteran Boyd Butcher. The pulse
rises the weekend as the championship series looms. Join us for this important
night.
