IOFS Outlaw 100 Saturday; Earlier Start
Time
Indianapolis,
IN (September 28, 2011) - Preparations continue for
Saturday night's inaugural IOFS Outlaw 100 open competition
oval event. This will mark the first time IOFS Outlaw cars have
competed in an oval event. The IOFS Compacts will also be a part
of this racing program that also includes the Anderson Speedway
Front Wheel Drive Oval division along with spectator races.
Several drivers have already confirmed their participation in
this event giving this race a unique collection of racing machines.
With very few rules this could be one of the most unique races
run anywhere in 2011. Defending IOFS champion, Gary Bedell, has
indicated he will participate along with Charlie Hargraves. Other
IOFS regulars include: Johny Hargraves, Preston Maxwell, and
Chuckie Hargraves among others. USA Modified regular, Damon Breedlove,
has indicated he will participate as well along with RJ Norton
III.
Other early confirmations as of September 27 include: Cale Ramey,
Nick Moore, Earl Adams, Jon Botts, among others.
Several types of racing machines are eligible to compete and
fans can expect to see Late Models, Limited Late Models, Modifieds,
Street Stocks, and ThunderCars competing alongside each other.
Many teams have also indicated they will take advantage of the
rules and add wider tires and wings for this special occasion.
This will be the first-ever oval race run under the IOFS banner.
But, Anderson Speedway has hosted numerous open competition oval
events of this type dating back to 1980. The " Junkyard
100 " was one of the most popular short track events in
all of the Midwest that was held annually at Anderson Speedway
for several years. The last time an open competition event was
held at Anderson Speedway was 1996.
Several drivers have participated in past Open Comp.oval events
at Anderson including: Harold Scott, CJ Rayburn, Vic Hellis,
Don Ellis, Jackie Neal, Jim Cooper, Frank Kimmel and Larry Zent
to name a few. CJ Rayburn set a world's record when he turned
a lap of 10.880 seconds on September 22, 1984. This record would
stand for nearly twenty years.
Pit gates for this event open at 3 PM. Spectator gates and practice
will be at 4 PM. Qualifying is set to begin at 5:30 PM with racing
at 7 PM. Please note these are earlier start times than normal.
