By: Scott Schultz Osgood, IN (September 16) - The Adtec Floor Care UMRA Racing Series wrapped up it's 40th anniversary season at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN Saturday night in spectacular fashion. Showcased at the end of the night was a Goff Racing 1-2 finish as Carey "Oogie" Goff led all but the first lap to nip 2000 AFC-UMRA Champion and older brother Terry Goff at the line. It was the second feature win of the year for the younger Goff and 25th of his 11 year career. "I knew Terry was behind me the whole time but it didn't bother me," said Goff. As a matter of fact midway through the feature the two made contact with each other but continued on. The first 16 laps of the feature were all green until a turn one mishap with Mike Smith and Collin Ambrose. The yellow flew again on lap 18 before the feature finished. Both Goff's certainly enjoyed the evenings competition as did the fans. Other interested parties included both Terry and Oogie's sponsor Old West Signs. "We certainly appreciate our sponsor coming out to the tracks so often to enjoy the racing," admitted Goff. Starting on the right foot was crucial for the success of the night. Oogie made sure his right foot did the talking as he set the fast time in qualifications. Lawrenceburg's Jason Willis stole a little of their thunder on the night as he raced his way to his third trophy dash win of the year and second in a row. It wasn't long before both Goff's were in the spotlight again picking up their respective heat races. For Oogie it was win number eight on the season while Terry picked up his season leading thirteenth win. Mike Smith and Mark Frazier also took home heat race wins, their fourth and third respectively. Matt Arrington who led most of the feature held here in July had to make it through the semi feature doing it in style winning for the second time this year. In the feature, it was anybody's guess who would come out on top. Oogie Goff had to overcome some heat race engine problems that could have spoiled his night. "We lost a cylinder in the heat race. We found the problem but I worried a little about it in the feature," said Goff. "We honestly didn't change much from last Saturday nights race." That in itself is pretty amazing as the tracks are farthest from each other on layout. Goff worked the high line most of the night staying right up close to the cushion on the high banked track. Whatever mechanic Scott Kleine saw in the track tonight certainly was the right choice. Ambrose led the first lap of the feature before falling back a couple spots. Anyone in the top five during the night had a chance to win. But following the Goff Brothers to the line in the feature was Mike Smith who picked up his sixth podium finish though without a win. Jason Willis also had a great run as he held his starting position to finish fourth. Bobby Walton picked up a season's best fifth place finish after starting sixteenth. Joey Paxson, again, was the top finishing rookie and all but sewed up his place in the record books as this years rookie of the year. The 40th anniversary season for the Adtec Floor Care UMRA Racing Series has now come to a close for this year at least on dirt. A non points race in October at Columbus awaits some of the drivers but more importantly the drivers look towards December and a return to the indoor racing of the Rumble Series.
